GWR Studios, the production arm of Guinness World Records, and Turkish studio Fauna Entertainment (known for their work on Briko and Kukuli) have joined forces to develop a new animated series, Brody Luckystar.
The series marks GWR’s first foray into the fully-animated series space and will transport audiences into a 2D world that celebrates the excitement and challenge behind each record attempt.
Karen Gilchrist, VP of Television and Digital for GWR, expressed her enthusiasm for the new venture, stating that
"Brody Luckystar is a shining example of how we can draw on the amazing world of Guinness World Records to create entertaining stories that will show audiences the determination and emotion involved in each and every record attempt. We’re thrilled to be partnering with Fauna Entertainment to bring this to life in the animated space for the first time."
The show will follow the adventures of its titular character, Brody, and her family as they move to a new town where everyone has a world record - except for Brody. Targeted towards young tweens, the series will emphasize the importance of enjoying the journey, not just the destination. Brody is determined to break a world record and in her pursuit of this goal, she learns about the value of friendship, family, and staying true to her values.
Emre Aksoy, CBO of Fauna Entertainment, shared his admiration for the character, stating that
"Brody is a compelling hero who loves her friends and family while having big dreams, like most of us. She embodies all the challenges she faces while trying to achieve her ambition of breaking a world record. We hope that Brody will be a positive role model for children worldwide who will be able to identify with her and root for her to achieve her dream."
Screenwriter Eric Shaw, an Emmy Award-winner known for his work on SpongeBob SquarePants and Big Nate, will be responsible for writing the pilot scripts. GWR Studios and Fauna Entertainment will collaborate to develop all aspects of the show, including the scripts, bible, and animatics, as they prepare to present the series to potential commissioners and co-production partners.
